Springtime Community Clean Up Day

Sunday May 21st 1pm to 5pm

We are encouraging Laingsburg residents to make an effort and put their best foot forward to make our community shine!  We are hoping for community teamwork and would like to focus our spring clean up on the beautification of our yards.  We would like to encourage neighbors to help neighbors,  lets work together to brighten up Laingsburg!

  1. Recyclable Items Accepted:
    Metal  Yes:
    all metal items, steel containers, tin cans, holiday lights, extension cords, appliances shelving etc. NO: fuel tanks, appliances with Freon, or aerosol cans.
    Electronics – All electronics including TVs & Monitors
    Residents can put these approved recycling items curbside at the end of their driveways.  Which will be picked up by teams of volunteers May 21st 1pm to 5pm.
  2. Yard Waste This service is offered to you free of charge as residents of the city of Laingsburg.  So please be considerate and remember the following rules when placing your yard waste at the curb for pick up NOT in the street.
    *Yard waste and Leaves can be piled curbside for pick up by the leaf vac
    *All sticks and limbs should be piled up neatly in the same direction and no bigger than 6 inches in diameter and 3 feet in length.
    *Please place thorn bearing item in separate piles.
    *NO stumps, firewood, dirt, vines or foreign objects.
    Please be patient as the DPW will not be picking up yard waste until Monday morning.
  3. TRASH -You can also put out items from your yard that you want to get rid of on Sunday for roadside pickup. We have limited dumpster space so please call (517) 896-9506 for larger items. We will take larger items if we have space in dumpsters.
    Below is the list of materials that should NOT be placed roadside:

    • NO ITEMS CONTAINING FREON
    • NO FUEL TANKS
    • NO AEROSOL CANS
    • NO CONTAINERS WITH A HAZARDOUS WASTE LABEL
    • NO APPLIANCES WITH FREON
    • NO COMPRESSED GAS CYLINDERS
    • NO BARRELS/DRUMS
    • NO LEAD ACID BATTERIES
    • NO LIQUIDS
    • NO RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL
    • NO MATERIALS CONTAINING PCB’S (SUCH AS LIGHT BALLASTS AND TRANSFORMERS)
    • NO MEDICAL WASTES
    • NO BEVERAGE CONTAINERS
    • NO WHOLE MOTOR VEHICLE TIRES
    • NO REGULATED HAZARDOUS WASTE
    • NO SEWAGE
    • NO OIL
    • NO IGNITABLE, CORROSIVE, REACTIVE, OR TOXIC MATERIALS
    • NO ASBESTOS WASTES
    • NO PFAS/PFOS WASTES
    • NO CONCRETE

Volunteers needed for two hour time slot on one of our clean up crews:
Recycling Team: Volunteers will be located at the Recycling Center and sort items between recycling and dumpster.
Trash Trailer Team: Volunteers will be picking up items that are placed at the end of driveways and transporting the items to Recycling center.
Parks/Roadside Team: Volunteers will go to parks-cleaning up as you go. Others will receive a map of roadsides we would like to clean if time allows.

All teams arrive at McClintock Park with comfort shoes (no open toed sandals) and attire.
All supplies will be provided like gloves, trash bags, pick up tools etc.

The Springtime Community Clean Up Day is made possible by the following groups and individuals. The Laingsburg Recyclers and Katie Brewer, Randy Cragg -Planning Commission, Twin Oaks donation of the use of trailers, LBCA, First Congregational Church and First Methodist Church for hosting food for volunteers,  CLH Insurance Agency and Auto-Owners Insurance for sponsoring the event and the Laingsburg City Council and DPW employees.  Thank you all for working together to make the event a success!
